Braai

Braai is the South African name for BBQ and that is what happens on the Schinkelhavenkade 1 where Braai just opened its doors.

Braai has a limited menue with a mean burger, good ribs, sides and sandwiches and thats that. They BBQ everything in a small little place where you cannot sit inside. This is solely a terrace next to the water (de Schinkel) where the sun shines until about 8 p.m. It is also quite well fenced off from the sometimes busy street.

The good thing about this concept is that the food is delicious, there are many soda drinks available as they do not have a permit for serving alcohol but you are allowed to bring your own beers/wines/whatevers and it is situated across the Vondelpark entrance on the Amstelveenseweg, which means you can grab a meal at Braai and bring it to the Vondelpark for chilling until sunset.

That is why this solid concept deserves mentioning and credits. It is very low key and affordable. Braai is appropriate for having a meal at every day of the week, whether you have your Friday kick-off drinks there in the sun with some BYO liquor and good BBQ-food or a quick bite on Tuesday because the weather is good and you don't feel like cooking!
