A while ago I read great things about Hotel de Goudfazant in Amsterdam-Noord, so I looked it up. In an industrial area situated alongside the IJ, it looked promising already. Especially when it is warm and sunny. The name makes you assume it is a hotel, but it is not.
On a nice sunny day we went to Hotel the Goudfazant, which is quite a journey if you live on the other side of the IJ. The place is located in an old car repair warehouse (at least that is what they told us) so a big rolling shutter separates the outside from the inside and because it was summer, it was open and we could look over the IJ to the center of Amsterdam. Before heading to our table we had a drink outside at the waterfront and enjoyed the sun, but when the sun went down and it got colder we went to our table in the half-open restaurant. Once there, all of us took the 3-course menu. The great staff was extremely helpful and the food was wonderful. We all had different dishes (meat, fish, vegetarian) and we all enjoyed every bit of it. For a quality diner on a special and peaceful location, this is definitely the place to be!
