When I was searching for a new restaurant to check out with my mom, I came across Betty's. We both prefer vegetarian food and online reviews suggested this was supposed to be one of the best vegetarian restaurants in Amsterdam. For us this was an easy decision: we are eating there a.s.a.p! This turned out to be a little bit of a disillusion because Betty's was fully booked for the next three weeks. Now I had a mission; this was a must go! I made a reservation for three weeks later and when the time came we excitedly cycled to the Rijnstraat to have dinner at Betty's. I have been in the Rijnstraat quite often, but we had to look for a bit before we found this cozy (or as we say 'gezellig') little place.
When entering Betty's we were welcomed by the owner who took our coats and sat us down. There is a fixed menu so there is not really anything to choose besides drinks. The owner passionately told us about all the lovely wines so that was an easy decision to make. Then the first big plate with starters for us to share was served. The owner not only explained the dishes to us but also gave small explanations about the ingredients that were used, which made the food even better. We each had 3 delicious dishes (both warm and cold). As a main we got 3 other delicious, vegetarian dishes and then the time for desert came (I am not going to dwell on everything we ate because the menu changes very often and you should just try it yourself). The owner took us to a display case filled with the awesomest looking pies so it took us about 5 minutes to decide, after which we ended our delightful evening at Betty's.
The owner is waiting the tables while his wife prepares all the food. They run Betty's by themselves. Even when you are not a vegetarian you will have a delicious dinner at Betty's; it 100% worth your while! We are definitely coming back.
